AJS's origin can be traced back to the early 1900's when the Stevens brothers - Harry, George, Jack and Joe set about producing AJS motorcycles.
Over the years the AJS company produced many fine motorcycle models and has lead the way in technology and motorcycle production. The company's many racing successes are legendary among enthusiasts world wide. The company expanded to reach it's peak in the 1920-30's and was later bought by the Norton Villiers group. Villiers were keen to produce an over the counter Moto-X machine and in 1968 the first of the Stormer range, the Y4, was released. However by 1974 Norton Villiers found themselves in difficulties, and Fluff Brown - seeing the potential of the Stormer range, purchased the rights to manufacture under the AJS banner, and moved into the present rural location of Goodworth Clatford near Andover in Hampshire during September of 1974.
